I saw an infant mom dyad recently in which I thought lactaid drops would be
worth a try. Baby nurses well with a good latch but stops in the middle of
feeds to cry and also crys alot betweeen feeds when the usual conforting does
not seem to help much (skin-to-skin, etc.) the infant is 2 weeks old.
Eliminating milk, etc. from mom's diet did not help. It does not seem to be
related to milk over or under supply. Weight gain is good. I was going to
try lactaid drops before embarking on the reflux work-up but they are no
longer available only tabs. Does anyone know the concentration of the drops.
I was thinking I could have a pharmacy make them up.
My gut feeling is that this is physiologic crying but I can't account for the
baby stopping to cry during feeds. I may have them come back in a watch a
feeding again to get more ideas.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
