When I worked at a WIC program we did not give details to the father over the
phone ( or grandmother or anyone else). Some fathers and/or families are not
supportive of bfing and if there is conflict in the home, your call may
further that. When we called, if the mother was not there we said "please
tell her to call Barb at 555-0000". If they asked what it was for or who I
was, I just said "she's expecting my call, thanks, good bye" and hung up. And
we always asked the moms in the program if they were able to receive calls at
home or did they want us to call their cell phone or pager instead.
And yes I have called Protective Sevices. In our state anyone who even
suspects abuse or neglect is responsible for reporting it. If you are a
professional in NC and you do not report a suspicion,or an actual case, you
may be liable also. And Protective Serices has the time and resources to
track down the mom, investigate and help with corrective resources. I would
rather report a case that turns out to be just a small problem then not
report it and it turn into a bad situation with a baby.
( Does that make sense? I am typing fast cause I have to get out the door to
go to Physical therapy. My son just arrived to drive me there-I'm still not
able to drive).

Also getting excited about Dr Jack Newman coming here in a few weeks for our
bfing conference! It's going to be a good one!)
