Maybe consider giving the residents a copy of the Americian Academy of
Family Physicians position statement on breastfeeding. Our professional
organization has a very strong position statement on breastfeeding (stronger
than the AAPs.) Residents will want evidence based stuff -- while some may
have an interest in the psychosocial benefits, etc., most will listen better
if you have evidence to back it up. Barbara Wilson-Clay's suggestions were
excellent.

As for books about childbirth, I like "The Birth Book" by William and Martha
Sears. It supports unmedicated birth, but gives an in depth discussion of
pain meds, etc., so people can see the risks and benefits. I also like, "A
Good Birth, A Safe Birth" by Diane Korte also. I recommend these to my
patients (I give out a recommended reading list at the first prenatal visit
and keep copies of these books in my exam room so folks can browse if they
like.)
