A few days ago I posed a rapid reply to the BMJ editorial about the study on
the WHO code in Togo and Burkina Faso. I sent it to another lactnetter who
asked if I thought it should come to Lactnet. I actually had decided not to
bother as I feel that most lactnetters are uninterested in issues to do with
ethics, the Code, international instruments (in this case the Global
Strategy), etc. However, my correspondent disagreed, so I post the url
below and hope that some of you find it of interest.
Incidentally, I think everyting I have said about the UK applies to the USA
-- maybe even more as we supply so much global aid and se tthe tone for so
much of what goes on in the world. Since I do not work in the USA, nor have
lived there for over 20 years, and because the BMJ is a UK journal, I
replied in this way.
