Hi Jeanette,

My name is Ann  and I currently work and have worked over the last 25 years
in NICU/SCN nurseries.  Reglan or Metoclopramide HCL, has been used with
infants (pretem and ill) for years.  Since it is  used to stimulate the
motility of the upper GI tract by increasing lower esophageal sphincters
tone (source: "Nursing Drug Hand Book") I would thing that this might play a
part in the banked milk in-take,.  You stated in your post that the child
had problems "neurological and gastrointestinal - leading to GI surgery".
Could it be that some elements of the Reglan was coming through the breast
milk?  I do not have my copy of "Hale" handy so can not follow up on this
idea .  But it would make since, at least in theory, since Reglan is often
given to infants with GI problems, though not as much as it use too.

I will post to the group and see if anyone else has the same idea.  Does
anyone have their "Hale" handy for a quick look up?
