Congratulations! The best thing to do is make sure the latch is really
good. Babies nurse more efficiently when they have more breast in the
lower part of their mouth, against their tongue. If a baby is latched
properly, there will be no nipple soreness, even if they stay on all
day. Trust me, I've been there!
She could also use breast compression. If you can get hold of a copy of
Dr Jack Newman's Guide to BF (Canadian title)/THe Ultimate
Breastfeeding Book of Answers (US title) (both co-authored by Lactnet's
own Teresa Pitman) , it has really great illustrations of both techniques.
