I hate labeling. I always restate a label. A mom says "the baby is
demanding" I say 'no, he's just smart, he knows what he wants and goes
after it, what a good trait, that will serve him well in life!" I've
done this forever "that child is hyper!" No, he's got loads of energy,
he must be great on a soccer field! My little girl is so shy (my
personal worst--I hate that word!) no, she's reserved, she takes her
time and gets to know someone, what a great trait, it'll help to keep
her safe--she's also attached to you, and that can only be good!

By restating "negative" labels, it often helps parents (and others) see
things in a new way!
