Michelle, the following may be helpful: The use of human milk for Premature
infants by Richard Schanler,MD. Pediatric Clinics of North America, Vol 48
Number 1 Feb 2001. pp 207-217. It states: "feeding of fortified human milk
was not associated with increased feeding intolerance or NEC. Also, the
article talks about the advantages of skin-skin contact for preemies. I
heard Dr Schlaner speak on this topic and he was very good. How are these
preemies' O2 sats as they nurse or bottlefeed? Monitoring Sats may be a way
to convince others? Sorry, I don't have any stats of my own.
