Working in a high risk center I see quite a few moms who are very sick post
partum and, often, when milk supply is low there is no other explanation
except the body is using its resources to fight infection or whatever else is
going on, to the detriment of milk supply. This, of course, is just a theory.
Compounding this, often sick mothers don't get sufficient breast stimulation.
They don't have the energy to pump and other people don't always get the job
done for them. Come to think of it I haven't seen a lot of mothers who were
very, very sick make a sufficient supply. This said I would continue to have
this mother provide frequent stimualtion to her breasts with baby and/or pump
and wait and see what happens.
