Subject: Re: Fw: gift packs, again

What's so hard? The fact that when the advertising is done for the
company by the hospital, the hospital gets a lot of "freebies" in
return. 10 years ago (who knows how much in today's money) our
inpatinet OB manager said that the unit saved $18,000 (yes, that's
the right number of zeros) a year in volu-feeds, nipples, pacifiers
etc. that the companies give for "free" and would not do so if the
hospital did not distribute the packs. And yet, it is impossible
for them to see this as a "kickback", "bribery", "collusion" or any
of the other appropriate, but nasty sounding, truthful labels.

So, has anyone in the US reported this activity to their Hospital's Corporate Compliance Officer as being a violation of the "anti-kickback" laws??? If so what happened? How about reporting the "gifts" we nurses get from the formula reps-the latest for us was a long distance telephone calling card.
