Loved this reverse approach! One really hit home for me:
k.. My mother didn't breastfeed and of course I
have to be different just to spite her.
While it was my sister, not my mom, and it really wasn't for spite,
But I credit my current career to the following:
I am 9 years younger than my sister.
She therefore did everything before I did.
She did not "succeed" at breastfeeding (tried 3 days with her first,
no attempt with the other 2)
When I became a mom, by golly breastfeeding was one thing I could do
that she hadn't already done, so I stuck it out in spite of knowing
very little and dealing with the misinformation rampant in the 60's.
And look where it led me!
