Call "atrophic vaginosis" (though I've always learned about it as
"vaginitis") simply "vaginal dryness" and suddenly its not so exciting and
loses its pathologic aura and need for remediation.
Certainly, when given this scary name, it sounds like something horrible and
terrible and in need of avoidance. I'm slightly appalled that the Planned
Parenthood site suggests estrogen cream to "clear" this "problem" in
breastfeeding mothers.
I would venture this same doctor would proclaim that "of course breast
feeding [space included on purpose] is best, but I don't want those bottle
feeding mothers to feel guilty." Just a hunch.
