Last week one of our NICU babies needed to go home on HMF. He wasn't growing
properly without it, the Drs. and ARNPs claim they tried. He has a lot of
medical issues. Mom needed to be on WIC due to the father walking out during the
pregnancy. Our social worker is really great but when she called to see if
they would provide the HMF they told her no way. Well...I quickly called
someone I knew who use to be with WIC in our county (thanks, Pam!!) and she
recommended calling Tallahassee to find out exactly what the issue is, if it is only
our county saying no or if it is a state wide policy. Well, we found out that
they will pay for it!! Yea! Sometimes the word "NO" sparks a challenge for
a LC!
