Dear Andrea,
Having been a gestational diabetic twice (yuck), I
learned a lot about this disorder. According to my
team of perinatologists, IF the mother's glucose
levels are *consistently* well-controlled, either via
diet or additional insulin therapy, the *pregnancy
outcomes* are not statistically different from those
of non-diabetic mothers.
It follows that, if pregnancy outcomes are essentially
the same, an uncomplicated lactation course would
follow...but it would sure be interesting to see if
there are any STUDIES regarding this issue. If anyone
knows of any studies available, please share with the
list!
