Hi everyone, Mom OKed I share this with you. We had a mom who had twins at
34 wks. They started out in NICU and then were in NBN and went home with
her. She was pumping and feeding. She states she really wants to brstfd. She
was 2 wks post delivery and got mastitis that was treated and she recovered.
Her supply dropped some with the mastitis and at this point she needed to
start supplementing with small amounts of cows based formula. She continued
to pump and feed. When she got the mastitis she states they started to spit
up. They continued to spit up her milk after the medication was done. They
even didn't want to drink it. They would keep down the cow's based iron
fortified formula. I encouraged her to mix it into some of the formula and
try it again. She reports she did mix 1oz her milk to 3 oz of formula and
they still vomit it up but straight formula they would keep down. Again she
says she really wanted them to have her milk. I thought maybe peanuts or
some other food. She states they liked her milk in the beginning, never
vomited, grew well and she didn't change her diet. Ideas???? Mary Ann Krainz
