Greetings,
I would appreciate some input on an issue that has me in a quandry. I am an
hospital-based LC and have worked with a mother after each of her babies
were born. She delivered at the hospital "across town" and they don't have
a Lactation Program. Her physician referred her to me when she had
difficulties nursing her first baby. I recently received a wonderful thank
you note from her expressing her gratitude, and enclosed in the envelope
was a $50 gift certificate to a local restaurant. While I'm grateful to
have received her note (it made my week!), I don't know how to handle the
gift card. I've thought of three options: 1.)send it back to her
explaining that I can't accept it, 2.) use it to treat the other LCs to
lunch one day, 3.) use it personally. I really don't know what to do.
Have you had a situation like this? I'd appreciate hearing how others
handle generous thank you gifts such as this.
