I have one comment about CERPS. I advise IBCLC to-be's to get their
education from different sources, rather than to take 45 credits from
one course or agency. This is a new profession, and no one has a
complete didactic model yet. The skill set is still in flux. So it's
better to go to a wide variety of educational opportunities if you can -
LLL Conference, your local ILCA affiliates conferences, independent
conferences, ILCA conferences, and some of the travelling workshops as
well. This way you are more likely to be exposed to a wider variety of
ideas and clinical skills. We all have our weaknesses and blind spots,
and learning from a variety of people hopefully means that you won't
inherit those of your teachers.
