Our hospital well recognizes that our lactation program does not create a
profit, quite the contrary in terms of dollars spent on salary and benefits.
Administration's thought is that our program has come to be expected by our
clientele and the profits made on the rentals and equipment sales, help
offset the financial costs of our Lactation Program.

Hope this helps. Just to help with figures, when I closed my personal rental
business and opened at the hospital the number of rental pumps needed and
suggested also grew, because I did not feel that conflict of interest and
could recommend them more freely. If you have a handle on what number of
rentals are out there in the community, for budgeting purposes know that
those numbers may increase by 10-15% at the very least.

Good luck, at the very least let them know how much this will create more
complete customer service and the general public will view your program as
more comprehensive.

Best Wishes,
LuAnn Smith
