Coincidentally, my daughter (same one who is now lactose intolerant and whom I've posted about a few times over the years) had, among other symptoms, horribly foul smelling gas as an infant. I eventually had to cut all dairy out of my diet for her to be comfortable until she was 11 mo's after which
she was fine. It was that particularly symptom, really foul-smelling gas, that cued me in to her emerging lactose intolerance at the age of 10 yrs. She was complaining of stomach aches and when I smelled that, I started to say, "My goodness, Emily" and then it dawned on me. Oh yes, I've smelled
this before! The rest is history..or at least recorded in other Lactnet posts!
