To all Lacnetters,
I want to thank you all for the vigorous give and take on these pages.
I have always been one to question authority and be skeptical of those
with "all the answers" so I feel quite at home here. Your questions
have all been very helpful for me to ...be better able at articulating
my views.
That having been said, I do hope you all will appreciate this discussion
is not about a book (or parenting technique) that is only marginally
relevant to lactation. The odeas of the
"4th trimester", "calming reflex" and "5 S's" have the potential of
becoming really beneficial tools in the LCs bag as you all help those
thousands of women (and their husbands) who lose confidence in their
milk and their ability to mother.
We are all on the same team! Let us commit ourselves to speaking freely
but also looking at the bigger picture and not allowing ourselves to be
separated by the discrepancies in jargon or practice that we may have.
Warmest wishes to all,
Harvey
PS The Happiest Baby has already begun to nudge into the background
books like "Baby wise" and "The Baby Whisperer" which are incompatible
with values we hold so dear.
