I need Lactneters help. I am searching for a patient survey sheet to give to NICU mom's to evaluate the assistance they received in the unit in regards to encouraging and supporting breastfeeding. I am unable to locate the one I had from a previous hospital.
I am in hopes that by supplying moms and families with the opportunity to evaluate their support and teaching that our hospital will support a Lactation Consultant for our NICU, if only on a part-time basis.
Without going into a lot of details there is surprisingly limited support in our unit. This had started to change as I started working with more moms. At the time I was an RN working the unit. Since then I obtained my IBCLC and had hoped that things would improve. They didn't, if anything they have regressed. I recently spoke with our new nurse manager and had limited success. I suggested a survey or questionnaire for the moms as a way of validating my observations and complaints by families. By providing documented/ Quality Assurance evaluation things might change. Of course now I am unable to locate the questionnaire. Does anyone on Lactnet have such a tool?
If anyone has one I would greatly appreciate it if you would send it to my Email address direct and as soon as possible. The NICU is a very "high need area" for moms. We really need our own LC in the unit. But money is always an insure. Prove it and it might come :-)
Thank you in advance for any help you might give or web sites I might check. I wanted to contact my support group first.
