Linda Tandy asked for ideas on safe acne treatments during bfing.
Linda,
Well, it's only a sample of one, but my acne has been completely cleared up
by erythromycin topical gel, 2%. I've had clear skin for 2 years now!!
Hale says that even oral erthromycin is very safe during breastfeeding. The
only caveats are: you may have to continue it indefinitely (if I stop it,
the breakouts come back within 2 weeks) and you may have trouble getting
your dermatologist to prescribe it as it seems they have gone to more
"effective" (and not as safe) treatments as drugs of choice.
BTW, I have an aunt named Linda Tandy in Asheville, NC. You aren't leading
a double life, are you? <LOL>
