Interesting and useful post from Kathy Boggs about
downregulating mom's milk supply for a pretermer
trying to learn to breastfeed!!
One question, Kathy...are your premie moms single- or
double-pumping? Or are they a mixed group? In
addition to having moms gradually pump less each day,
to downregulate supply, perhaps an additional strategy
would be to suggest switching to single pumping?
Equivalent to one-sided nursing...yes? Makes sense to
me. Anyone with any thoughts or data on this, please
contribute!
In my happy dreams, I see more moms coping with
over-supply, rather than poor supply from ineffective
early breastfeeding management....sigh. At least with
over-supply, there is plenty there for baby to get ;)
