Hi, Kate: What a wonderful idea for a children's party! I have heard of
Save the Children but don't know much about it. An organization that I
really like is Heifer Project International - web site is
www.heiferproject.org. Kids may really like the idea of giving a family a
cow, goat, flock of chickens, etc. The purpose is to donate to a needy
family a way to help them make a living. From the flock of chickens, for
example, a family can sell the eggs, or from a cow, they can sell the milk
to supplement their income. Some of the more exotic offerings are a water
buffalo or hive of bees. The donator receives a picture and report of
where their donation went. You can request a catalogue.
Good luck and have fun at your party!
Pam
