In answer to Sheila's query, it would seem that one of the basic needs of
anyone providing pumps to breastfeeding mothers should have some formal
collaboration with an IBCLC or with a LLL, if there are none among the owners
or employees of the rental company itself. Simply providing equipment is not
enough, and the company should have the attitude that 'pumps are what we
supply when that is the best option', not that 'we are offering lactation
consultancy as an added bonus when renting a pump from us'.
The archives do contain historical posts from this discussion and would be
worth reading just to get the perspective from the BTDT's.
