In her infinate wisdom (same wisdom that let to not fighting the demise of
the breastfeeding center) our nurse manager put nipple shields on the par
level cart so that anyone can and does give them out. We have at least 10
nurses who assume everyone has "flat nipples" and one that even gives them
out as part of setting up a room for a admission who will be breastfeeding.
No instructions for using or weaning from them are given and babies are
usually then supplemented "because they are starving".
