Getting my sons tongue tie fixed at 5 mos of age cost well over 3000.00 (US)
in doctor, anesthesia and surgical center fees. Granted, his was quite
severe, but the ENT who did it said that if he had had the opportunity to
fix it at 6 weeks of age, he would have foregone the anesthesia and
outpatient surgery center and just done it in the office. My husband never
had his clipped, although as an adult it did eventually tear. However, not
before he suffered through speech problems and therapy, orthodontic
treatment which reversed itself to some degree when the braces came off and
currently is on CPAP for sleep apnea.
And the pediatrician wanted to wait...so we did. <sigh> No wonder my nipples
were so sore for 5 mos!
If anyone needs an ENT who will clip early in the Dallas, Texas area, email
me off list and I will be glad to pass his name along.
