These family-centered units sound too good to be true! In 24 yrs of nursing,
I have never worked in a place even remotely family-centered. Maybe it is
just New Orleans? I am so pleased with programs like Rush Mother's Milk club
and Evergreen's family-centered care. This is getting a bit off topic, but
the concepts of family-centered care, developmental care of premature
infants, kangaroo mother care (all related) are so important to healthy
moms/babies and breastfeeding. I applaud those who are doing such fine work
in these areas.
