"My initial "butt out" statement was an expression of my frustration for
the continuation of these kinds of beliefs."
I understand this well. I have no doubt that all of us are trying to
communicate in effective ways with all the diverse mothers and health care
providers with whom we interact. I have not doubt that effective counseling
and communication are extremely difficult things to accomplish. And I have
no doubt that we all feel intensely--and justifiably--frustrated with the
seemingly never-ending list barriers that get in the way of breastfeeding.
What we think, what we describe here on Lactnet, and what we actually say
to a particular mother are often remarkably different.
Keep up the good work everyone. Many, many mothers are grateful for your
efforts.
