I am the director of a small WIC agency in Lufkin, Texas. We have begun to notice that a number of moms giving Enfamil Lipil to their babies are bringing it back to exchange for Enfamil without the added fatty acids. I counted 6 returns in the month of November, a month in which we issued Lipil to 146 infants. Thats a 4% failure rate. And there are probably some moms who are having trouble with the formula, but don't know they can exchange it, so they just buy some to last until the next visit and then ask for the next voucher to be Enfamil. The moms complain of spitting up, throwing up, and diarrhea. Four of the 6 infants with a reaction are black and Hispanic. Nothing scientific, but the word of mouth against Lipil is definitely growing.
