Sandra Steingraber must be nomail lately, but search
the archives for her previous posts. Read "Having
Faith" where she talks about contaminants in human
milk.
My understanding of the issue is:
-breastmilk is an easy fluid to obtain and measure the
levels
-humans live longer than cows so we have more time to
accumulate toxins
-our first baby will get the most contaminants. The
levels are greatest during the first months of nursing
and decrease over time as contaminants leave the
mother's body
-breastmilk is better than any alternative but that
doesnt' mean we can deny the issue or sit on our hands
until our worldwide contaminant load worsens.
Sandra, did I do ok? :-)
