Conventional wisdom has it that babies with laryngeomalcia should only be
breastfed in upright positions.  I personally find that they do better in
side lying with exaggerated neck extension.  I did a consult with another
such a baby last Fall.  Mom is a physical therapist and her friend, who
observed, is a Speech Pathologist.  When I positioned the baby in side-lying
(and he did really well both transferring milk and breathing) the friend
commented that this was what she understood that Deborah Beckman (who has
previously spoken at ILCA conf.) recommends for babies with this condition.
Says it leads to a more patent airway.  I have some video of this case that
I am trying to get digitized so that I can use it as a case study when I
lecture.
