I had a prenatal mom come to my breastfeeding support group last night in desperate need of help. She is expecting her 4th baby in April and has never successfully nursed them. Her milk would come in, she would leak milk and get engorged. The problem lay in having severely sore nipples, despite previous lactation consultations, close observation of the latch, etc. Apparently the pain was so severe it would impede her letdown. Even at this point, her nipples are hypersensitive. She reports no Raynaud's type blanching,tingling, etc... Please help! She really wants to succeed this time. Her husband is a pediatrician and came with her to the group to get ideas. We're lucky here in Amarillo, Texas--Dr. Hale is a frequent speaker at our events--as he was last night..He had no ideas either, except for maybe using the triple nipple ointment..(She gave me permission to post.)
