Cathy is better versed on this than I am. What I would add, though, is
an intriguing statement that I found in an infertility text book (Leon
Speroff).  "Mild deficiencies in estrogen, progesterone, thyroxine,
cortisol, insulin, prolactin, GH, can be compensated for by excess
prolactin."  This suggests to me the possible value in using
galactogogues that increase prolactin levels in some compromised
lactation situations such as your colleague's case. Very interesting!
