In the discussion about formula promotion by hospitals and their staffs some
posters have compared the infant food industry to the tobacco or alcohol
industries with regard to marketing tactics, and with good reason.
But we don't need to rank evildoers. The infant food industry is badly
behaved enough without any comparisons to anyone, and warrants our concerted
effort to repel their attempts to harm mothers and babies through
underhanded and misleading marketing.
I say this because I don't want our discussion to turn into a contest for
who is the worst one in the class. Many of us are slaying dragons on
several fronts. Lactnet is the place where we can discuss this particular
dragon. There are other places for discussing the other ones.
