So....
Is the hospital-based LC's role that of a specialist to be brought in only
when problems are more severe, complex, or time-consuming than the nurses
can handle?
Or is she a breastfeeding facilitator who should see every mother and
endeavor to prevent difficulties through best-practice management and
information, as well as addressing the "train wrecks" that will still occur?
I imagine there's no one answer and the experience, know-how, and goodwill
of the nurses in breastfeeding initiation in the particular hospital are a
key factor. But I'd like a variety of perspectives on this.
