Beloved Lactnetters,
To add to Rachel Barlow's *veerry interrresting* post
on factors contributing to dental caries, I would like
to include TONGUE TIE. Dr. Brian Palmer's website
really clarified this for me. He points out that
dental caries is (are?) much more common with
ankyloglossia (tongue tie), since a lack of mobility
in the tongue prevents one from "sweeping out" the
crevices of the mouth after eating. This is something
we all do, without even thinking most of the time.
Yet those with tongue tie are unable to do so.
Peace on Earth for All,
Carole
