Dear Lactnet:  The use of nubain during labor is new
to our OB L/D area.  Since inception (3 vaginal
deliveries w/o use forceps or vacuum) we have had 3
breastfeeding babies who have taken up to 2 weeks to
be able to organize suck/swallow/breathe while at the
breast.  These babies are limp, alert with stimulation
and not interested in eating.  The attending physician
involved does not believe the information from Hale
regarding Nubain.  I would like another resource to
access for pertinent information regarding Nubain.
