Dear Friends:
This particular baby didn't latch. I recommended skin-to-skin, pumping
and bottle feeding EBM in breastfeeding style. Never heard from mom again.
She never answered the phone; I left at least 2 messages a day until leaving
a message like this: "I have been trying to reach you at all hours, at these
times..... I am home. This is my number. I will wait for you to call me. I
can be helpful."
Today, I finally spoke with her. The baby is nursing now, all night.
Days are a problem and we discussed ways to make that easier. However, she
has come light years in a week!
I recognized and praised her learning style which is to get information
and go disappear and work on the problem alone. Then surface with progress to
report and more questions.
What a relief! I was getting so worrried.
Warmly,
