Do you get a legal drama called North Square in North America?
In one episode a breastfeeding solicitor has to travel about 300 km
(200 miles) for a case.
Her middle-aged male unmarried clerk has reason to ring her husband
(also a solicitor) and hears the infant crying. The clerk asks if the
infant is getting breastmilk (i.e.. EBM). The answer is no, and the
clerk says that formula is not natural and the father replies that it is
all he's got. The clerk then tells his male colleagues that "its not
natural - bottles - powder - f....s you up. Breast is best". He gets a
few odd looks but no adverse comments.
He then asks what the "squirting" into bottles is called. One says
"milking?", the other says "expressing". "Brilliant" the clerk says,
"she's going to express it and we're going to bike it - a milk run".
A courier service is booked for 2 hourly milk runs - female riders
so that "no heavy-leather bloke steps all over MsFitzgerald's sensitive
moments".
A female pupil (not in on the above discussion) is then despatched
to the chemists for bottles, sterilizer and the "clamp thing" (i.e..
pump) and told to take a taxi, not the train, the 300 km because he
"wants that baby fed properly".

The male judge won't allow a half hour expressing break every 2
hours in spite of support by the female prosecutor - there is a fair
bit of uncomplimentary discussion re him.

Every time the husband is seen in Chambers he is baby-wearing.
There is much merriment in one scene when the infant is inconsolable
and the father tries to attach him. He is sprung of course and
onlookers are sworn to secrecy.

Except for the rather ripe language at times it was very positive
and I enjoyed the hour immensely.

Wende
