Naomi, you stated, "I'm doing some work on bf and dads. What strategies have
people used to inform dads and appeal to them to support/tolerate their
wives' bfing?"
I taught a BF class once with a few dads in attendance and after I'd
discussed the risks of formula, mentioning increased cancer risks to moms who
don't breastfeed, I asked the fathers-to-be what they felt were important
reasons to breastfeed. One dad lovingly looked at his wife and said he
wanted her to breastfeed so he could have her with him for a long time.
I've repeated this story every class since and always need to excuse myself
for choking up during the telling.
