I bought an old Lloyd-B pump from eBay. The box shows it was made by
Lopuco, Ltd. 1615 Old Annapolis Road, Woodbine, MD 21797. Someone
hand-wrote an 800 phone number on the box, but I'm not giving it here
because I have no idea who it belongs to. I don't think the pump is
currently being manufactured. It has two glass flanges, each fit into a
rubber stopper. One of a size to fit into a glass infant water bottle and a
larger one that would fit into a baby food jar. The squeeze action is
rather firm but very smooth. It is designed for a much larger hand than
mine & I wear size L rubber goves. The squeeze pump is MitYvaC by Neward
Enterprises of Cucamonga, CA. Embossed numbers are: 12 89 9K84. Possibly
mfd in Dec'89? So Lopuco put this hand pump, that was designed for several
medical devices, together with the glass flanges, stoppers, tubing &
bottles to create this hand pump.
So I put my vacuum gauge on it and found that the vacuum increased a little
more with each squeeze. I recall it reached >300 mm hg on the release
stroke. There is a little vacuum release valve, but which hand do you use
to trip it? the one squeezing the hand piece or the one holding the flange
& bottle? If you have very long artificial nails, you could reach it with
your index finger. :-)
In my opinion, its more effective equivalents might be (in alphabetical
order) the Ameda hand pump, the Avent hand pump, and the Medela manual pump.
