Once in a while I get moms like this. I usually see them as a last resort
so they can say they "tried everything". I have found it helpful to me to
be sure to ask open ended questions. Such as "How do you feel about nursing
right now as your baby is hungry and this is how I know that." There answer
gives me a clue to how they really plan on feeding their baby. If the
answer is right now that here priorities are elsewhere, I point out that her
baby needs to be fed and that she has options.
