: Just so y'all don't think I work in a total backwater...

LOL! Now, I didn't mention that it was Modesto. And it will take more than
resolving this issue to make me think it's not a total backwater ;-)

: Today, I had a fruitful chat with one of the public health nurse managers
: for my County's Health Department. She is passing on that little nugget
: about certain local physicians stating that lactation is a
contraindication
: to TB testing to her boss (the County Health Officer) and the TB public
: health nurse. They are eager to go out and do some inservices with the
local
: physicians.

Excellent :-)

: The nice thing is that I also had wonderful breastfeeding pamphlets and
: manual pumps brought to my office by a staff person from our County's
Women
: Infant and Children's program. They also supply me with really nice 100%
: cotton nursing pads that I give to new moms.

Wow, that's great! A newly pregnant friend (baby #3) just got a copy of
What To Expect, etc. with a nice formula sticker in the front. She declined
the rest of their goodies, as she's heard me rant often enough, but I still
can't believe OBs are giving that stuff out at the first visit.

: Some days the bear eats you, some days you eat the bear. At least I never
: have to worry about unemployment :).

<snort> I'm thinking that if I do become an IBCLC in this town, I will be
*very* busy.
