My first son weighed 8 lbs 8 oz at birth, dropped to 7 lbs 11oz at discharge
3 days later and then weighed in at 10 lbs 3 oz two weeks after that. That's
a weight gain of 40 oz or 2.86 oz/day. I had VERY sore nipples and was
thinking breastfeeding wasn't going very well until the nurse practioner
weighed my ds on Day 17 and wondered what in the world I was feeding him to
make him gain so much weight. When I told her I was breastfeeding, she was
amazed and said I should bottle my breastmilk and sell it ! :)
