Letters to the editor to follow-up this story are important as they give us
a change to reinforce and shape the messages.
One point my husband made when he read it this morning was the note that
"many" women cannot breastfeed. I hadn't even noticed: "While breast-feeding
is best, many mothers choose not to breast-feed, are unable to or want
something to supplement it."
I think it's worth pointing out that few women are physically unable to
breastfeed, and that many women don't "chose" to stop but are forced to
through a lack of support or ignorance of options.
So my letter will go out later today.
