I hear your frustration but there are some important pieces left out of this
puzzle.......Was the Mom's milk "in" when you visited? How would you
characterize the fdng-was the babe transferring lots of milk or little?   Did
you check the weight?
Is this 5 hr span only once or twice a day or is this around the clock
resulting in only 5 fds/day?
If this baby is truly lethargic, jaundiced and dehydrated, and if he is truly
only feeding 5xday, he needs to be referred immediately to the pediat as this
downward spiral will only continue. Feeding 5x/day is NEVER enough for a
newborn.
