I did not know exactly what to do with this. I have seen mothers who
breastfed VERY successfully but could not pump enough milk. I have no
documentation of these cases but I thought some of you might.

I emailed asking for permission to share everything with you and Ms. Lewis
urgently asked that I do so.

I have edited out her phone number but left in her email address. Thanks.

Jay Gordon

Dear Dr. Jay,

Hello my name is Kimberly Lewis. I am in the middle of a very ugly divorce.
My husband and I have a 9 month old daughter.

This is my situation. I breastfed my daughter every four hours. I have two
older children and with all three children I have been unable to pump my
breastmilk with a pump. It is very painful and I don't express much milk
with a pump. My husband has visitation five days a week however, he wants me
to stop breastfeeding so he can have overnights and more visitation. My
husbands attorney was able to get a court date (Oct. 1st) to ask the judge
for overnight visitation and for me to stop breastfeeding.

His attorney is saying that I am lying and that there are no known cases of
woman who are unable to pump their breast milk. He is stating that I am the
only woman with this problem. And although my husband has visitation almost
every day of the week, his attorney is saying that I am using this as an
excuse and denying proper visitation.

Since the day our daughter was born, my husband has tried everything in his
power to stop me from breastfeeding. He has always giving our daughter
formula since the day she was born when he knew that I was nursing.

Have you heard of any other woman who are unable to pump their breast milk or
am I the only one?
I could really use some advice.

[I need documentation because . . .] his lawyer is demanding this before
our court date) [Do you have . . .] documented cases of other woman who are
unable to pump their milk - otherwise, I will be forced to stop breastfeeding.

I can be reached at:

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Lewis
