Cindy -- is this evidence-based, or....???? As an RN in MCH for the past
(mutter mutter) years, I've never heard this.

BTW, I've used Dr. Karp's swaddling technique to teach it to moms in the
hospital, and it works magic. Often the baby is settled just w/ the
swaddling -- sometimes it takes the swinging in my arms, the sidelying, or
the SHHHHH.... If those don't work, I figure the baby needs to go to breast
-- she's probably hungry. I've also found that the swaddling can help those
disorganized babies latch on. I don't use it routinely because I like babies
to be able to touch the breast, and I like to see more skin to skin -- but
there are those babies that need a bit of extra help -- and this serves very
nicely.

I for one am delighted that "The Happiest Baby on the Block" is out there.
It's a SUPER alternative to Baby(un)wise and the other stuff. I also
recommend "The No Cry Sleep Solution" by Elizabeth Pantley for those parents
who are wanting to get their babies to sleep through the night....
