Thank you for the information, Catherine.
When I searched the LACTNET archives for information on laryngomalacia, most posts suggested more upright feeding. This was also the suggestion of my LLL Professional Liason. I also did see mention of the head tipped back.
When I talked to my neice for an update I mentioned the upright feeding and the head extension if that seemed to work for her daughter.
Right now she is pumping and feeding the baby with a bottle during the day and continueing to nurse at night. I don't know what kind of a bottle or nipple she is using. She had been doing this routine for a few days when I last talked to her (although baby had been having bottles already for a couple weeks while at day care). So what I am saying is that she had replaced a few more nursings with bottle feedings. After a few days of this, the baby had actually weighed in at 2 oz. less.
Should I tell her prone feeding and not upright?
Thanks again for your input.
Jeanne
